- Description: Compressor makes a loud noise for about 10 seconds then clicks off. Fridge and freezer will not cool. Can't tell if it's the start relay, the compressor, or somehow the defrost thermostat. The fridge would get too cold at first, then it stopped working all together. I tried the diagnostic mode on the fridge and everytime I tried to test the compressor, it would make a noise for about 10 seconds, then make a clicking noise. Without a multimeter, I can't test the components
