- Description: The washing machine was running and within a few minutes of entering the wash cycle, the washer starting making a terrible grinding noise. I stopped it, and could smell smoke inside the drum. Thinking it may have had a motor failure..what's strange is the refrigerator that's plugged into the same outlet will not power on, but the washer does have power. Not sure if too much power was being drawn off this outlet and it fried the electronics? We're having some electrical outlet issues.
