- Description: RV refrigerator: Norcold N8DCSSR Polar 8 DC, approximately 231 L (8.2 cu. ft.), 12V DC compressor refrigerator. 2023 year- warranty repair failed twice - they addressed electrical stating wires were loose once and no good explanation on second repair attempt. Fridge barely used in 2 years as it randomly goes to error even if it turns on for a few hours - we are tired of using our cooler and warranty period expired without real fix. Fridge is essentially unused. (Fridge Control module never replaced.) Problem: Refrigerator powers on normally after holding the power button for ~3 seconds. It appears to operate for approximately 2 seconds, then displays E5 briefly followed by a continuous E3 error code and beeping. The refrigerator will not continue operating. Current power situation: RV is not connected to 30A shore power currently. It is currently running from the 12V battery, which has a trickle charger connected. Other RV 12V equipment, including the awning, operates normally (same 15A breaker - no changes since factory build). The refrigerator and awning are on the same 15A circuit at the WFCO panel. Initial diagnostic focus: 12V voltage at the refrigerator during startup. Norcold documentation indicates E3 is associated with DC input voltage being outside the specified range, approximately 11.9–15.6 VDC. Need to determine final fix, whether wiring, connections, or a control-board issue.
