- Description: Our washing machine smells awful. We just bought this house a few months ago and have had issues with it from day 1. There was mold in the rubber seal around the door but we were able to scrub that away. We have used washing machine cleaners ran through cleaning cycles countless times, and yet the washing machine still smells like rot and mildew. We discovered the water drains extremely slowly - when a washing cycle is completed, if we spin the inner drum by hand, we hear a small sloshing noise inside even though the inner drum is dry. We are at our wits end because all our clothes come out smelling worse than when they went in but we don't have any other choice.
